For language programs
More speaking time for every student, and a record of what it produced
Talio gives your students structured conversation practice outside class and shows you how their speaking is developing: fluency, pacing, vocabulary range and progress on CEFR can-do statements.
Instructors see how much each student has practiced speaking, all time and week by week, counted only for their section.

Every program wants more speaking time. Few can measure what it produces.
Instructors can't sit with every student, and peer practice reinforces errors as often as it corrects them. Talio extends speaking practice beyond the classroom and reports back what actually happened.
- Most learners get only a few minutes of speaking time per class
- Feedback arrives days later, after the mistake has already settled in
- Peer practice reinforces incorrect language as often as it fixes it
- Completion grades say an assignment got done, not whether proficiency moved
Feedback from the speech signal, not just the transcript
“I don't have enough time—or TAs—to give every student the speaking feedback they need. Talio fills that gap.”
Metrics from the fluency literature, not a black box
Feedback is at the heart of what Talio Language does, and it's something we don't blindly turn over to LLMs. We compute established measures from the fluency literature directly from each recording and track them over time, so students and teachers can see exactly where they are progressing.
Analysis includes things like:
- Mean Length of Run — How much you say between pauses — one of the strongest predictors of perceived fluency.
- Speaking rate — How quickly speech comes out, tracked session over session so growth is visible.
- Vocabulary & grammar diversity — Whether students are stretching into new vocabulary, tenses, and sentence structures — or recycling what feels safe.

“Students kept wanting to talk longer than the assignment required. The instant feedback is really precious — even a language partner can't do that.”
Scenarios built around CEFR can-do statements
Describe a situation in one line and pick a CEFR level. Talio proposes scenarios at that level, each showing the can-do statements it practices and the roles on both sides.
